Curiosity’s heat shield had to survive 1600 degrees to get to the surface of Mars.

Curiosity has many tools it can use such as a drill, used for collecting samples of rocks on Mars.

What is the laser for? Does it collect samples of rocks like the drill, or does it do something else?

What would scientists do if a Mars rover did find life of Mars?

From this video I understand that scientists will get a lot more information about Mars from Curiosity, and that parts of Curiosity’s design may be used for future Mars rovers.
